Istanbul Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Topkapi Palace in Istanbul was constructed in 1453 and was the residency of Ottoman sultans for the next 400 years, where they lived in the splendour of it’s ornate gilded and marbled rooms. Over the years Topkapi expanded and alterations were made, but the basic layout of the four-courtyard approach remained the same. Today it is home to an imposing museum with displays of exquisite crystal and silver ornaments and objets d’art, and jewels and clothing from the Ottoman era. The courtyards have park-like settings with trees and gardens.
Istanbul city is a most colourful and interesting place to visit with many sites and sounds like Istanbul's Topkapi Palace. There are many fabulous Istanbul hotels where you will be welcomed.
